I Am Logan Square's Gallery Debut March 3!
WORD TO THE MOTHER
You are invited to our newly opened gallery and office space! We will kick off our grand opening with an exhibition titled “Word to the Mother” of recent works by homegrown artists Lauren Feece, Chris Tavares Silva, Robert Stevenson, and Lindsey Meyers on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 6 PM to 9 PM at I AM Logan Square, located at 2648 N. Milwaukee Avenue.
To add to the celebration, the opening will be accompanied by music by DJ Kusi, delicious hors d’oeuvres from CafĂ© con Leche, wine and samplings of local brewer, Wil Huffman’s, newest brew.
Christopher Tavares Silva, a musical and visual artist with roots in Chicago's graffiti & skateboard culture, met his partner, artist Lauren Feece on the way to an art opening and since then the duo have been supporting each other's creativity and often working collaboratively. Silva and Feece recently returned "home" to Chicago from a four-year vision quest in the jungles of Puerto Rico. Check out Chris Silva and Lauren Feece's websites for more information.
Robert Stevenson’s paint, pen, marker renderings deal with themes of connectivity and relationships between people and their environment, while playfully reflecting on what is in and outside of reality. Stevenson is a dedicated visual artist presently working as a sign maker in Evanston. Check out Robert Stevenson's Flicker site for more information.
Lindsey Meyers, a Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival alum, is an independently trained street artist and photographer. Meyers, who lives with her husband and children in Logan Square, studied at The Steppenwolf Theatre and graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Psychology. Here is more information about Lindsey Meyers.
“Word to the Mother” will run through the end of March and all works will be available for purchase with proceeds going to the artist(s) and to support I AM Logan Square.
