Spotlight On: Logan Square Artists at the Art Loop Open

There is STILL time to go see the magnificent downtown art exhibits at the Art Loop Open!

Chicago’s inaugural Art Loop Open, a major new art competition judged by the public, “opened” in a big way the evening of Friday, October 15, attracting thousands to the downtown area to cast their votes among the 191 pieces of art on display in ten venues.  

Today is the last day to vote...Winners will be announced TOMORROW, Oct. 29, for the top three cash prizes:
  • $25,000 | 1st Place
  • $15,000 | 2nd Place
  • $10,000 | 3rd Place

This Weekend Oct. 22-24: Pumpkins, Art & Soul

It's that spooky time of year again.  And what kind of Halloween would it be without a pumpkin?

Bring the family and pick out your perfect pumpkin at Unity Park's 10th Annual Pumpkinfest this Sat, Oct. 23 from 11 AM to 2 PM. Decorating stations, a costume parade and music will be provided by DJ Rebel X for this free event.

Come early to be sure to get a pumpkin while supplies last.

Join esteemed artists Tony Tasset (Artist responsible for "The Eye" on State Street), Juan Angel Chavez (Artist, Sculpture Professor, SAIC) and Logan Square's own Lynn Basa (Artist, Author and Professor, School of the Art Institute) and as they discuss public art within the context of Art Loop Open. The lively discussion will be moderated by I AM Logan Square Board chairman and Chicago Artists' Coalition executive director, Carolina O. Jayaram.

Musical of the Living Dead Opens in Logan Square

Are you part of the horde of zombie lovers in the Chicago area? Are you in the mood for a gory, yet profane good time during this harrowing Halloween season?

Special Halloween Performance on Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. that includes post-show cast party with cocktails, appetizers and a costume contest (the more outrageous, the better!)

Trace the lives of 10 very different people trapped in a farmhouse during the scary outbreak of a zombie apocalypse. Brain-eating zombies abound outside as these people seek refuge and try not to get eaten. Be ready for blood, guts and gore as the suspense builds. Find out who the zombies come back to eat and who lives to fight yet another day.

Logan Square Artists Accepted at Chicago's Inaugural Art Loop Open

Come out and show your support for these two Logan Square artists who will be displaying their work at Chicago's Inaugural Art Loop Open, a major new art competition.

 Memory Construct III

Stop by Block 37 (108 N. State) in the Loop to view Jane Michalski's, "Memory Construct III" and Lindsey Meyers' "Post Partum/We Might Look Like We Are In Love" and view lots of great art from local Chicago artists.

It's the public [YOU] who votes for the best art pieces in this interactive public art exhibition and competition, let's all vote for Jane and Lindsey! They are counting on us :) Voting runs through October 29th and must be done in person. All artwork will be for sale November 1 -12.

200 pieces of art were selected from over 750 entries judged by an esteemed panel for the Inaugural Art Loop Open and a chance to win more than $60,000 in prizes. Ten official Loop sites will display the 200 pieces by Chicago talent:
