IALS’s October Gallery Opening: TRANSIT’s Opening Reception a Success!

Our fall kick off in partnership with TRANSIT was a spectacular event! Their second print invitational and third annual exhibition, Building Blocks: TRANSIT’s Print Community was sensational. Again, the artists showcasing their work conjured emotions of admiration and appreciation for the arts. Hence, October being Chicago Artists Month: “Art Block by Block”, it was nice to see art enthusiasts and artists alike mingle, chitchat, and express their thoughts and opinions on the print work pieces.

If you missed out, don’t fret. The exhibition will run until Oct. 27th. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6pm. Come view the art, pick up a TRANSIT Map, a free TRANSIT baggage tag and IALS button, and sign-up to receive the latest updates! If you’re interested in being an IALS volunteer, swing by and let us know or email us at info@iamlogansquare.com.

Prints are available for purchase. Sales of artwork support the artists who made the pieces, as well as TRANSIT’s efforts to help artists find time and space to focus on making new bodies of work. Pieces sell from $3 to over $200.

Pictures to come soon to share with you the opening night experience. Meredith R. Winer, Executive Director of TRANSIT, did a great job choosing the pieces to part-take in this year’s exhibition. Her curator, Marcela Andrade, did a wonderful job in executing the placement of the artwork. Our food sponsor D’Noche provided delicious food samples of croquetas, quesadillas, and empanadas. To drink, our sponsors Beck’s Beer and Cutty Sark quenched our thirst. The ginger beer and whiskey combo was a hit.
